Hello There! I'm

Natasha van Zyl

BA Psych (Hon) (Stell) Neurodivergent Warrior

Get to know Natasha...

Natasha has dedicated her entire life to serving the more vulnerable and misunderstood members of society. Long before she ever studied psychology, Natasha had to navigate life with her own neurodivergent profile including autism, ADHD, and dyslexia in a world that created even less space for neurodiversity than it does now.

After receiving her honours in psychology at Stellenbosch University in Cape Town, Natasha travelled, collecting and fine-tuning techniques from all over the world in healing trauma and supporting life transitions. She became highly respected for her success in bridging the gaps between neurodivergent individuals and their family members, significant others, carers, and colleagues. For many, she was the only go-to for emergency support, meltdown and tantrum behaviour support, and meltdown recovery.

Today, Natasha is nothing less than a warrior for neurodivergent people, unwavering in her determination to create opportunities for us to experience and express life at its most sublime.

Now based in Wilderness on the Garden Route in South Africa, Natasha has chosen to be “neurodivergent first” in her work, stepping out of the role of a traditional psychologist and embracing her stance as a neurodivergent advocate.

It is in this space, and in her feature My Neurodivergent Warrior, that Natasha feels there is a deeper truth, a more vulnerable honesty, and so much more power in speaking about her own living experience as an autistic person.

She has dedicated her life to training parents, teachers, therapists, and caretakers to create environments and opportunities for autistic people to explore their own powerful skills and optimise their potential and contribution to the world. Her guidance is unparalleled in communication translations and feedback, transition adaption, trauma challenges and recovery, as well as in addressing underlying thoughts and behaviours that contribute to psychological distress.

A blend of psychology and lived experience, Natasha’s approach is centred on the uniqueness of every life journey, on the grace of love, complete acceptance, and the absolute belief that all humans are part of a perfect design.
